Yeah, I think that's it. Whatever. This was just a pic to try different methods (using layers!). It's okay, but I could do better.

Oo, nicely done. I like the way you coloured them, it makes the background seam less realistic and more cartoony.. good luck in the contest!

Well... the pic is very good done... the lights and shadow are well placed so the drawing looks if this was part of the backkground ;)... and the background with that effect fith with the pic
Now my critiques... first... yo could do the pic more big, is too little.... second is the goombella's eye, one of them is too far, the another is well placed and for least... the rain effect coul be another... here I left a excellent tutorial for do rain effect [link] and one more simple [link]
that is all... good job... I liked for the effort so I will do it a :+fav:
